Female
Akemi is a member of the current generation of agents created by the shadowy organization known as Zandaka. With ruthless efficiency these agents carry out the will of their masters. Akemi is seen as the highlight of the 6th generation of Zandaka's super soldiers and will perhaps serve as the blue print for the 7th. Whether to the aid or determent of the ninja world, only time will tell.
Appearance[]
Akemi’s bright red hair stands out in a crowd, much to her displeasure. Those well studied in the history of the ninja world often believe this betrays an Uzumaki lineage (which is not a completely inaccurate assumption). Others simply think the unusual hair color gives Akemi an exotic charm that distracts from her cold demeanor. This trend continues with Akemi’s sapphire colored eyes. At a glance one is likely to only notice Akemi’s vibrante blue irises, oblivious to the hardened soul concealed behind those eyes.
Akemi is well above average height, standing at about 170cm. Tall, but not incredibly so. Not many have had the opportunity to examine Akemi’s body up close, but such an examination would reveal an extremely fit form, something often teased by her high cut top and flak vest. Akemi’s impressive physique is the result of both her crafted genetics and intense training. Her musculature does little to detract from her beauty. Akemi maintains generous curves and unblemished skin, the latter being despite the various battles she has endured.
Akemi’s typical combat attire bears some resemblance to many of the traditional ANBU uniforms of the great nations. Akemi wears a dark blue top under a flak vest, both cut high to leave Akemi’s lower abdomen exposed. Many assume the high cut to be a foolish choice, as it leaves a vital area obviously vulnerable to attack. This is actually Akemi’s intent, hoping to draw attacks to that area that she can easily defend with her Crystal Release. Akemi’s pants and leg wrap are very similar to what most ninja wear, though they bear the same dark blue as her top.
On the rare occasions where Akemi doesn’t wear her combat attire she most often simply discards her flak vest and bracers, leaving only her top and pants. Even without any sorts of obvious armor, Akemi’s attire still visibly marks her as a combatant. When this is not acceptable Akemi simply adopts the local fashion, typically something that covers her body as much as possible. Akemi makes an effort to select plain, uninteresting clothes with head covering when appropriate. Akemi will more often than not wear her combat attire beneath whatever casual attire she has selected.
Personality (Rewrite Pending)[]
Akemi has what some would call a "split personality". Her persona seems to change drastically depending on the outfit she wears. While in combat Akemi is very focused and determined (some may even say ruthless), not unlike Hādo was during his missions. She relentlessly picks at her opponents in combat, probing until she finds the best way to bring them down. She rarely ever lets up on the offense, even taking to verbal confrontation. While in her casual clothing Akemi is more relaxed, displaying warm smile and surprisingly quick sense of humor, much like Yoru. The select few that get to interact with both of Akemi's personalities are often confused and surprised by the drastic change.
Regardless of which persona Akemi is using, there are some consistencies to her personality. One such consistency is hey undying loyalty. Akemi is extremely loyal (a trait she considers part of her "programing"), but only to a select few people. Manami, Yoru and Hādo are the only people she has ever been truly loyal too. This very exclusive loyalty causes Akemi to be untrusting of others, often questioning their true motives and being reluctant to let them in on her personal thoughts. This may cause her to appear cold and unfriendly to others (which has a strange contraction with her casual persona).
Akemi may not always be the warmest human being, but she does possess a good understanding of human psychology. She can mentally probe the minds of other and people often reveal personal information without them even knowing it. Akemi is not afraid to openly state her observations, in some cases even if it may not be deemed appreciated by others. While in her casual persona, these observations escape Akemi's mouth during even casual conversation, while Akemi's combat persona is usually more focused on achieving the objective more so than noting her observations.
Akemi also has one of the strongest wills one will ever see in their life time. Akemi will never give up, even if the situation is dire. Akemi would rather die fighting for her beliefs and personal goals than begging for mercy at the feet of the enemy. She often thinks of herself as being "unbreakable" due to Hādo using the word to define her diamond strong will early in her life. She takes pride in this and will die before surrendering. Giving up in her mind is going against the wishes of Hādo, which she would never forgive herself for.
A final consistent aspect to Akemi's personality is a cynical view of herself and what she is. Akemi is fully aware of what she is, as attempt was made by her masters to hide it from her. Akemi sees herself as something less than human because of this. She often states that she was not born but rather "designed" or "created". Not having true biological parents also forces views upon Akemi that differ from most people. She has only a general idea of what having biological family is like, further distancing herself from the people whom she considers "naturally born."
Background[]
The first generation of Zandaka’s genetically enhanced ninja were made back in the final days of the Second Shinobi World War. At first, Zandaka was merely looking for “good” genetics, but with each new generation the bar was raised higher and higher. By the time the 6th generation was created, each agent was born possessing powerful kekki genkai, in addition to paragon tier genetics. Akemi was designated Agent 6-03 upon birth. Even before she could walk, the infant Akemi was subjected to genjutsu techniques meant to condition her to suit Zandaka’s needs. By the age of 5, Akemi was already considered a chunin level kunoichi, showing proficiency in all basic skills of a ninja and quickly mastering her Crystal Release. At age 13, Akemi was officially assigned the title of Agent, the skill qualifications being comparable to that of an ANBU captain, and began carrying out field missions for the shadowy organization.
Akemi, like most Zandaka agents, has a 100% success rate regarding mission success. Akemi has undertaken all types of assignments, from recon to assassination. She has been regarded as especially adept at infiltrating enemy positions and clearing the location of hostels without leaving so much as a trace of her presence. Using subterranean travel via earth release and quickly dispatching targets with fire and crystal release, Akemi can make quick work of even well defended positions before anyone has a chance to even comprehend what is happening. Akemi has never once faltered or hesitated with a mission, carrying out each assignment with cold eyes and a stoic expression. Akemi is revered for her focus and efficiency, though with time the kunoichi is steadily developing what Zandaka hoped she would never have; an opinion.
Abilities[]
Crystal Release[]
With each new generation of Zandaka’s engineered soldiers, new abilities and traits are added to improve the individual combat effectiveness of each soldier. Akemi’s generation possesses the natural athleticism and super human coordination of the previous generations, in addition to each possessing a different kekkei genkai. Akemi’s kekkei genkai is the much sought after Crystal Release. It is believed the DNA used in Akemi’s creation to manifest Crystal Release was acquired from a former Otogakure ninja by the name of Gurren. Little information on this Oto-nin is known, partially due to her defecting from Otogakure many years prior, but vague notes on Gurren’s use of Crystal Release suggests she used her Crystal Release to crystalize and weaponize the environment. Akemi’s use of Crystal Release differs in that Akemi crystalizes and weaponizes her own chakra. As a result, the crystals Akemi creatures are diamond-like in nature, sacrificing versatility for sheer power and durability. Useful for both offense and defense, Akemi’s most frequent applications of her Crystal Release involves creating simple piercing weapons and armor. Though lackluster in appearance, Akemi’s techniques are fearsome and she can implement many of her techniques with little to no hand seals. Pairing this speed and raw power with both Earth and Fire Release techniques allows Akemi to subtly set up opponents for sudden, killing blows.
Earth Release[]
Akemi primarily uses Earth Release as a manner of moving undetected outside of combat. Techniques such as Earth Release: Hiding Like a Mole Technique and Earth Release: Tunneling Technique allow Akemi to move about without fear of being detected. From these concealed positions Akemi can launch devastating surprise attacks, sometimes even in the midst of combat, and catche her opponents unaware. In a more open conflict, Akemi often uses large scale techniques such as Earth Release: Fissure and Earth Release: Tearing Earth Turning Palm to both eliminate large groups of enemies at once and alter the landscape to better suit her fighting style. Akemi can form walls or rip apart earth to either create separation or force her opponents to close the distance and fight up close, whichever Akemi deems more favorable. When the situation calls for it, Akemi possesses a number of more direct Earth Release techniques perfect for launching concentrated attacks at specific targets, such as Earth Release: Earth and Stone Dragon. Akemi’s prowess with Earth Release has fooled many into believing it is her sole discipline. Akemi is always willing to expose those incorrect assumptions for what they truly are.
Fire Release[]
Of all Akemi’s powerful abilities, Fire Release remains her most effective method for engaging multiple enemies at once. Akemi uses techniques such as Fire Release: Fireball Technique and Fire Release: Blast Wave Wild Dance to cast fire over large areas, striking groups of foes simultaneously. When combined with Akemi’s ability to shape the battlefield with Earth Release, the devastating effects of Akemi’s Fire Release techniques are maximized. Trapping enemies in tunnels and earthen crevices, then filling the space with flame is one of Akemi’s favored tactics. In addition to these more conventional uses of Fire Release, Akemi has been known to use unusual Fire Release techniques to keep enemies off guard. Techniques such as Fire Release: Shadow Clone and Fire Release: Rivet differ from the large area of effect attacks, keeping enemies off guard without requiring Akemi to utilize different chakra natures or abilities. When further augmented with her Backfire ability, Akemi’s Fire Release becomes something for even the best of ninja to be wary of.
Backfire[]
Akemi possesses a unique ability relating to her Fire Release, though to be the result of Kasai clan cells used in her creation. Dubbed “Backfire”, Akemi possesses the ability to passively absorb flames, whether they be natural or formed from an enemy’s Fire Release, into her body and repurpose it to augment her own Fire Release techniques. Akemi can implement this ability to use her Fire Release with reduced chakra consumption or simply to augment the power of fer Fire Release. This ability does not come without a few drawbacks. Akemi cannot store consumed flames indefinitely. Holding onto consumed flames for an extended period of time increases Akemi’s internal body temperature, causing her to overheat and suffer from heat stroke if the flames are not expelled beforehand. Although Backfire does indeed greatly reduce the amount of damage Akemi takes from fire, it does not render her immune and the amount of fire that can be absorbed is limited, meaning an overwhelming use of Fire Release can still be lethal to Akemi.
Genjutsu[]
Akemi rarely uses genjutsu in combat, being far less proficient with the techniques than ninjutsu and taijutsu. Akemi primarily uses C-Rank genjutsu techniques, such as Sly Mind Affect Technique and Demonic Illusion: False Surroundings Technique to evade pursuit from her enemies. Akemi is also trained in the use of the Interrogation Genjutsu. A vast majority of Akemi’s Genjutsu training revolved around defending against such techniques. Akemi has shown to be able to reliably fend off Genjutsu of B-Rank without much difficulty. She can even defend against some A-Rank genjutsu with moderate success, though her defenses begin to falter when dealing with such techniques in the heat of combat.
Taijutsu[]
Akemi’s taijutsu ability is on par with even the most talented of jonin. Anyone short of a dedicated taijutsu master would be hard pressed to one up Akemi in hand to hand combat. Making use of lightning quick and precise movements, as well as her surprising strength, Akemi can effortlessly defeat a lesser ninja in mere moments with taijutsu alone. What truly makes Akemi’s taijutsu deadly is when she combines it with her ninjutsu, most notably her Crystal Release. Akemi can coat her body in Fire Release to put a short range fighter on the defensive, unable to strike without damaging themselves in the flames while dodging Akemi’s flaming punches and kicks. Akemi rarely uses Fire Release in this way, as it gradually consumes chakra to maintain the intense heat required to make the ability effective. More often Akemi uses her Crystal Release, making her body hard as diamond. While doing so Akemi is impervious to all but the most powerful to taijutsu techniques. In addition Akemi’s own attacks gain power, as Akemi can strike at full force without concern for damaging her hand. Akemi can also coat parts of her body in additional layers of diamond, increasing the mass of her strikes and further increasing the damage dealt.
Chakra[]
As a result of her carefully crafted genetics, Akemi’s chakra reserves are significantly more vast than what is achievable by most ninja. A byproduct of her incredible amount of chakra is Akemi’s ability to endure long battles and make continued use of her powerful ninjutsu. Akemi pairs this chakra endurance with her powerful defensive capability to take advantage of battles she can’t win quickly. Some speculate that Uzumaki DNA was used to help increase Akemi’s chakra reserves. This conclusion is supported because of Akemi’s red hair, a signature Uzumaki genetic trait, but this theory has never been confirmed by anyone within the Zandaka organization.
Genetic Enhancements[]
Like all of Zandaka’s projects, Akemi benefits from a genetic makeup that has been carefully engineered. Akemi is part of the most recent combat ready generation (Generation C-IV) of Zandaka’s super soldiers, making use of DNA from a number of prominent clans to produce powerful ninja that possess kekkei genkai. Though the exact makeup of Akemi’s genetic makeup have never been disclosed, it is believed DNA obtained from a former Otogakure ninja by the name of Gurren was used to obtain Crystal Release. Many suspect that Akemi’s red hair is the result of Uzumaki DNA being used in her creation, this theory further supported by Akemi’s impressive chakra reserves and vitality. Rumors speak of Akemi’s affinity for Fire Release and Backfire ability coming from Kasai clan DNA, the Kasai being a notable clan from the Warring States Era known for their Fire Release. There are likely more to Akemi’s genetic makeup than these just these clans, but these other components can only be guessed at.
Kenjutsu[]
Akemi is proficient with most types of traditional swords and can prove quite deadly when wielding a blade. Despite extensive training with these more traditional styles of swords, Akemi’s prefered blade is a heavy kukri style short sword. Akemi combines the heavy weight of the weapon with her speed and power and rapidly hack away at foes, keeping them on their heels and wearing them down before delivering a precise killing strike. Much like her taijutsu, Akemi often augments her kenjutsu with ninjutsu, running chakra through her kukri and achieving a variety of effects to gain the edge on combat.
Fuinjutsu[]
Due to the covert nature of the missions that agents of Zandaka are required to carry out, it was made mandatory for each to become proficient in fuinjutsu. The ability to seal away mission vital material for the purposes of transportation and preservation vastly improves the effectiveness of Zandaka members, especially in the realm of information gathering. Akemi has shown to be quite talented when it comes to fuinjutsu and has received additional training in the field. Though Akemi’s most frequent uses of fuinjutsu are simple weapon summonings, she is more than capable of using high ranking techniques both in and out of combat. On more than one occasion, Akemi has lured an opponent into a false sense of security, only to use her fuinjutsu to trap them and end the battle.
