Aniki Mitarashi is the brother of Anko Mitarashi, and a former experiment of Orochimaru's. He was an attempt to create the ultimate biological weapon, and was codenamed project M.E.W. 2(Mokuton-Enhanced Weapon, version 2). His transformation is the result of having a unique curse seal, not derived from Jugo but from the same blood sample that gave Yamato his Mokuton abilities, etched onto his very DNA. Interestingly, this did not give Aniki any Mokuton jutsu but instead enhanced his normal jutsu. While he once thought his former master, Orochimaru would bring peace to the world, he soon found out otherwise.

Biography

Aniki Mitarashi is the younger brother of Anko Mitarashi. The two were very close, Anko taking good care of her brother when she wasn't being trained by Orochimaru. When Anko was apparently abandoned by Orochimaru, he set out to find Ororchimaru and slay him in revenge. He was caught by several sound ninja, and brought to Orochimaru. Orochimaru sensed hatred in him, and started experimenting on the boy. He survived the curse seal, much like his sister, but Orochimaru took it a step further- he placed a curse seal known as the Cursed Seal of Life on Azuki's brain. This caused Azuki to mutate into a grotesque form, like that of a hairless feline.

Once the mutation was complete, he was knocked out. He was kept inside a healing solution, slowly recovering- but also slowly losing his memory. When he awoke, he knew only two things. To serve his master, Orochimaru, and his new name- M.E.W. 2.

When the Sound 4 members were recruited, Aniki was scared of them. The way Tayuya handled the others with her harsh words, however made him admire her a bit, as in his subconscious, the memory of his sister lingered. While Anko was by no means as rude as Tayuya, Tayuya shared the rest of her personality quirks with Anko to some extent or another. Aniki soon grew to like Tayuya as an older sister, and she took him under her wing. When he heard of her apparent death, he grieved so much that half of Orochimaru's lair was destroyed in his rage. The snake sannin understood his anger and sorrow, and as such, did not punish Aniki. Instead, he amplified Aniki's newfound hatred for the Leaf Vilage by constantly reminding Aniki that it was a ninja from Konohagakure who helped kill Tayuya.

Aniki's first battle was against the container of the Six-Tailed Falcon, a young girl who possessed the ability to control all wind jutsu due to the beast sealed inside her. Orochimaru wanted to recruit the girl, and sent Aniki to retrieve her. When he offered her this chance, she refused, and attacked Aniki. He very nearly killed her, but stopped himself when she started crying. This was the first time he had seen fear since his transformation. He let the girl live out of shame of making someone cower like that.

Over the next few years, he gathered his power, becoming an unstoppable force. However, he contracted a nonfatal disease similar to the fatal one Kimimaro had, making his newly found godlike strength nothing more but a short dream. Still, despite being a secret outside of Oto, he was one of the strongest among its ranks. He even was a mentor to Elyk of the Kisaragi clan. One day, he came across Shujitori Kuramitsu and Hinata Hyuuga outside his lair. Team Anko and the Hyuuga heiress were dispatched to spy on Otogakure. He confronted Anko, and some of the words she spoke made him remember his past. He decided to help her find Orochimaru, so that he may confront his master for the truth.
