The Fire Release: Rasengan is an original technique created by Shigure Abura.
Overview[]
After observing Wakame Uzumaki using the Rasengan during the Ishigakure Civil War Arc, Shigure managed to copy the technique and learn it on her own. She then attempted to combine her innate fire nature with the Rasengan in order to create a more complete technique, having correctly intuited that the Fourth Hokage's purpose of creating the technique was to also combine his own nature transformation into the technique which he was unable to do before his passing. Thanks to her prodigious skill, she was able to easily perform the normal Rasengan on her lonesome, however, she struggled in properly applying her nature transformation which she unwittingly described using the exact same simile Wakame Uzumaki would use when creating her Rasengan (and later, the Rasenshuriken) technique: it was as if she was trying to look left and right at the same time. Coincidentally enough, Shigure also reached the exact same conclusion as Naruto and employed the use of a shadow clone to help her infuse her Rasengan with fire. By the time of the interlude, she is able to disregard the need to use a shadow clone to assist her.
Shigure's version appears identical to that of the standard Rasengan with the exception that the ball is instead entirely composed of roiling green flames; she can choose to either use it as a melee weapon, driving it into her opponent to both tear through and burn their skin or she can choose to throw it which when touching any flammable object, will immediately ignite that object with the green flames unique to the Abura Clan's Fire Release that cannot be extinguished by any normal means. When it is combined with the Wind Release, its destructive power is further enhanced as the wind helps the exploding fireball cover a much larger area than it could normally.
Trivia[]
- This technique has been jokingly given the name of Hothead Rasengan (一刻螺旋丸, Ikkoku Rasengan, lit. Stubborn Spiralling Sphere) by Wakame Uzumaki upon first observing it.
