Hanegakure (村隠し風の下で, Hanegakure no Sato; Literally Meaning "The Village Hidden Under the Wing") is the hidden village of the Land of Cranes. The village is hidden within a canyon that is surrounded by shallow wetlands.

Hanegakure was founded sometime after the end of the First Shinobi World War by the Crane Daimyo in order to protect the country from foreign shinobi.
The village was then plunged into the Second Shinobi World War where the village's shinobi fought to defend their country in a battle at the location that would later come to be known as the "Pass of Tranquil Respite". Hanegakure did not win the battle, but the action of the shinobi that fell at that pass kept enemy forces away from the capital city.

- Vapor Release techniques originally came from this village when the Village Head developed the techniques during the Third Shinobi World War
- It is speculated, due to the corrosive properties that some Vapor Release techniques possess, that Vapor Release is somehow related to Boil Release.
