Nagaina (なゲインあ, Nagaina) is one of the elders of Ryūchi Cave. She is known as the "Mother of all Snakes" (蛇の母, Hebi no Haha), as she gave birth to the current generation of snakes.
Background[]
Nagaina is said to be the progenitor of the current snakes residing in Ryūchi Cave.
Appearance[]
Nagaina has a very thin build, similar to a garter snake. Her full size is similar to Nag's, and she is roughly the same size as Ryun Uchiha's perfect Susanoo.
Personality[]
Nagaina speaks much like a stereotypical hick woman. She also particularly shows disdain when she is summoned, berating Ryun Uchiha when he does so as well.[1]
Abilities[]
Nagaina is an incredibly powerful summon, like her husband, being the one of the strongest snake within the Ryūchi Cave. As a sage, she has access to powerful senjutsu techniques.

Influences[]
Nagaina is inspired by the female cobra, of the same name, in the short story by Rudyard Kipling, "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi". Like the snake in the book, her husband is named Nag. It is probable that her name, like her husband's, was derived from the word nāga, which was used to describe the half-snake, half-human deities in Hinduism and Buddhism predominately in India, but also Japan.
Trivia[]
- Originally, her name was Haroku, but the name was abandoned due to having no real Japanese meaning.
