The Hatake Clan (畑一族, Hatake Ichizoku) is a notable family of shinobi hailing from Konohagakure. Even prior to the creation of shinobi villages, members of this clan have been known for their exceptional prowess on the field of battle and their ability to adapt to nearly any situation. As a whole, the Hatake Clan has produced many shinobi famed throughout the world, namely Sakumo Hatake and his son Kakashi.
During the era of Warring States, the Hatake Clan had already formed a long-standing relationship with the Senju Clan; ultimately resulting in the marriage of Butsuma Senju to one of their own. When Konohagakure was created many years later, the Hatake Clan was among the first clans to officially join and ally themselves with the newly-formed village. From that point forward, the Hatake name has been one uttered with pride by the villagers of Konohagakure, as their members have served with distinction and exceptional skill from the moment of the village's creation to the present.
While members of the Hatake Clan were not known to possess any abilities tied to their bloodline, or secret techniques, they were known for their exceptional talent on the battlefield. In fact, Sakumo Hatake was hailed as possessing power great enough to surpass that of the Sannin on his own; a claim that still strikes fear in many shinobi to this day. Furthermore, Kakashi Hatake, his son, was considered as a candidate for the position of Hokage in light of his phenomenal skill. As a whole, members of the Hatake Clan are characterized by an unprecedented sum of talent and skill on the field of battle.
One of the most distinguishing, physical characteristics of the Hatake Clan is their white hair. The vast majority of those possessing their blood will either have a full head of white hair or an uncanny combination of white and another color. A Hatake's hair has a natural tendency to be on the shaggy side, and is typically worn as a messy mass or in a ponytail by the clan's male population.
- The assumption that Butsuma Senju's wife was a member of the Hatake Clan is based upon numerous similarities between her sons and the existing members of the Hatake Clan within canon.
