Backround
During the Nine Tailed Fox's attack on Konoha, Iruka's parents fought it, and was killed in the great battle. During his childhood, he did all kinds of pranks and fooled around during class, just to get attention. Many years later, he was an Academy Instructor, and Naruto's teacher. He saw himself in Naruto, and treated him many times for Ramen. He acted to Naruto like he was Naruto's father.
Chunin Exams arc
When the time for the Chunin Exams was near, he was against letting his former students, the Rookie Nine, participate in the Chunin Exam. But he later let them continue to the test, after trying them out on a little test to check their abilities. In the end of the Second Stage, he was chosen (he asked for it) to greet Naruto's team, when they passed that stage of the exam.
Rescue Gaara
When Naruto's Two-and-a-half year training was over, he treated Naruto for some Ramen at Ichiraku's.
Jiraiya's Death
When Naruto found out that Jiraiya was killed by Pein, Iruka told him that Jiraiya will always be proud of him.
Pein's Invasion arc
Iruka is assisting a fallen comrade when the Deva Pein appears and demands to know the location to Naruto. Iruka refuses and is about to be stabbed until Kakashi appears to face Pein.
