Izanami is a strong and deadly dōjutsu that is activated through the Kisōgan. It causes the user's chakra to become putrid and demonic, and it almost immediately starts to leak out into the open. From there on, everything around the user becomes corrupted and starts to wither away, progressing at a moderately slow pace.

Even their touch is dangerous as their chakra can be infused through direct contact, if a living animal is touched by them then the chakra will slowly start to affect everything within the victim's body causing cells to destroy themselves, leading to organ failure, quickened blood coagulation and withering of muscle and skin tissue which makes the victim look like a walking pile of flesh and bone. Eventually it will affect the bones of their skeletal structure as well, causing them to become very brittle which will lead to the sufferer's body to collapse in on itself, an extremely agonising way to die.

Despite the destructive power it has to everything and everyone around them, it also causes the user to go through tremendous pain due to the gradual decaying process. The longer the jutsu is in effect, the more his/her body will undergo necrosis.

After using this jutsu, the user must seek immediate expert healing in order to cure the necrotised parts of their body.
