Sosuke Mizushima (水島壮介 Mizushima Sosuke) is a Jōnin of Kirigakure and a member of Kiyone's team.
Background[]
Personality[]
Sosuke is generally very calm and apathetic, whether it be in front of his allies, rivals, or enemies, a composure he maintains even when faced with danger. He has a very blunt way of speaking, where he simply doesn't sugar-coat his words when voicing his, usually harsh, opinion. He is fiercely loyal to his village and the Mizukage, threatening Cal with death every time he dared to insult Kirigakure or it's leader's.
He takes great pride in his abilities and his code of honor and has a very low opinion of missing-nin and mercenary ninja. He is aware of his place in the world and recognizes he is no match for a "monster" like Onitsuchi, at least not in straight-up fight. He is more bloodthirsty than he appears and even though Mei encourages him to embrace the new path she is taking their village in, Sosuke still holds on to the part of himself that drives him to want to kill.
Appearance[]
On the surface, not initially a dangerous-looking individual, Sosuke is a relatively haggard and tired-looking young man. He has dark hair, which is rather spiky and unkempt, and is quite long, often covering one of his eyes. He is generally seen with a stoic facial expression and is described as "gloomy" by his older sister.
Abilities[]
Ninjutsu[]
Sosuke has displayed great proficiency with the Body Flicker Technique, crossing great distances in the blink of an eye without any hand seals. He is also highly capable in Medical Ninjutsu, being able to use the Mystical Palm Technique to heal himself and others.
Kenjutsu[]

Considered by many to be of the most gifted and promising swordsmen in the last decade, Sosuke has proven to be nothing short of a master in the use of kenjutsu, being able to fight on even grounds with older and much more experienced swordsmen. He has displayed great versatility, being able to utilize both a forward and reverse grip as well as wield two swords effectively. His strikes are strong and precise and he can cut through stone with ease. He is incredibly proficient in the use of Iaidō, he can draw and slice through multiple opponents without giving them a chance to defend themselves. He favours a sword with a long reach due to his fast-paced and fluid attack patterns involving clean and precise cuts in order to effectively kill or wound in a short period of time.

Sosuke undoubtedly posses great skill with Genjutsu. His skill in the use of Genjutsu far surpasses that of individuals such as Kurenai Yuhi. He can cast an illusion over Shusui, which can ensnare even the most prepared of people just by showing them the blade and because of his incredibly precise chakra control, he can weave incredibly convincing and realistic illusion's that are difficult to discern from reality.
Sosuke uses his sword as a medium to cast genjutsu.
He can cast high-level genjutsu without uttering a word or using hand seals, though doing so does decrease the effectiveness to some extent. He can cast high-level genjutsu, and although they have proven to be mostly ineffective against a mature and well-developed Sharingan, he can still use illusions to distract a Sharingan user, opening up a separate avenue of opportunity for him to swiftly attack. His skill has rendered him partially resistant to the effects of the powerful genjutsu Though his primary application of Genjutsu is through use of Shusui, Sosuke can easily use powerful Genjutsu without it, something which can catch others of guard as they are specifically refraining from looking at Shusui's blade because they think that is the only way Sosuke uses Genjutsu. His skill with Genjutsu has rendered him partially resistant to the Sharingan and his knowledge of chakra flow and Genjutsu allows him to determine what is real and what is not thus making the Sharingans visual abilities practically useless against him.
Chakra and Physical Prowess[]

Sosuke has a refined amount of control over his chakra, in part due to his vast knowledge of chakra flow. His skill with his chakra allows him to masterfully mask the majority of his chakra and convince those around him (even high-level, sensor-type shinobi) that he possessed barely enough chakra to surpass the average Genin. He possesses sufficient control to greatly augment his physical prowess to the point where he can take multiple heavy attacks without submitting, knock someone unconscious with a single chakra-enhanced strike and cut through incredibly durable materials with chakra-augmented slashes of his katana.
Due to his advanced senses and sensory perception, Sosuke is able to still fight incredibly well without the use of his eyes, being able to skilfully overwhelm sparing partners even when blindfolded. He has also been shown to have very good eyesight and his ears are particularly sensitive, being able to hear people coming from quite a distance away.
Though Sosuke's preferred method of combat is his outstanding prowess with Genjutsu and Kenjutsu, he is adept in hand-to-hand combat and possesses enough skill with it to easily defend against several armed mercenaries.
