Makomo Ōtori (凰真菰, Ōtori Makomo) is a former ANBU Shinobi of Konohagakure, and the adoptive mother of Hibiki Ōtori. She is one of the few Shinobi in Konohagakure with Water Release Chakra, and seems to have abnormal control over water, controlling it occasionally without weaving signs. She is also the former leader of Team Makomo, the three Genin members which later became powerful and respected Shinobi of Konohagakure.
Background[]
Makomo Ōtori was born to Shinobi who hailed from Kirigakure. She was abandoned at birth by her parents, but, luckily for her, was found by her grandparents (who had moved to Konohagakure around the time her parents did) and was raised by them. It was this that later led to her adopting Hibiki Ōtori, who she found weakened in a forest near Konoha.

Makomo turning into water
Makomo was born with the strange ability to manipulate water, even turning herself into water in a similar manner to Suigetsu Hōzuki. As such, her Chakra Nature is fittingly of the Water-type.

- Makomo shares her birthday (the date, not the year) with her adopted son, Hibiki Ōtori. Hibiki also ascended to the ranks of Genin, Chūnin, and Jōnin at the same age Makomo did.
