Not anything against you, its just the clan isn't finished. I have work to do on it and I haven't even made a member of it myself. Once I'm confident everything is in place, then I will happily allow others to make members of the clan. Until then, though, it'll be restricted to me.
He should be putting up a blog here pretty soon. Basically the "official" fanon canon project has been on a dead streak since October. It hasn't picked up almost any traction since then. Serk's plot idea, I have to admit, sounds pretty badass so I jumped on it. I like the idea of a fanon canon: but this whole waiting three months to see it go anywhere, after almost a month of waiting prior to that, was insane.
Yeah, that's on us ten. But the thing is the kind of FC we tried isn't going to work that well with as many people joined it. I pretty much expect you to encounter a lot of the same problems we did when you get the BFF one going. GMing a campaign that large is hard as hell, tis why phantom ascent started dragging hardcore turn one. Least from what I have seen.
The BFF one is going rather smoothly, I must say. We've already got the second arc planned out and most of the characters in place. All that actually has to be done is roleplaying the first arc, which is already underway, and several users are taking their own initiative to forge sidestories. That may just be me, but considering I returned to BFF, made a character, and immediately was able to hop in and help with the story development process was worlds apart to from the original FC here, where we'd be left waiting for days and weeks just to hear what the operators were planning and that was when and if the operators could get ahold of other fellow operators.
The problem with the NF version was the 20 bazillion applications you had to go through, compared to the scant few in the BFF version, not to mention you had people like Dazz and Sigma flooding the applications with like twenty a day, which made it a hard system for you operators to manage. Information is also a huge problem. The original FC had like 5 or 6 blogs, no central information page, and the operators were almost always not on the same page about one subject or the next, which led to huge confusion about what was acceptable, what wasn't, and what was even going on. Serk and I, after the first blog is published, are going to actually create an article for his Fanon Canon, which will contain all of the pertinent information, to fix this issue.
In short, the "official" FC here needed more operators, a more developed storyline, and a whole lot less red tape.
yeah, i'm trying to work on the applications issue, cause it got ridiculous. Issue is that like half the characters entered into FC are Uchiha or Uchiha related. 70 out of 225 apps were Uchiha related.
As for the issues, I agree you should still have less, it also helps that the people in it are far more likely to not be as ridiculous, because of increased experience, while the people for our FC were primarily brand new. The first RP did drag significantly, which is similar to what happened with the kage summit the first time around, but you guys got through that, which is most of the issues I was talking about.
As for the story, honestly i actually had as many as half a dozen planned out, but when the first one dragged so hard, with dreams leaving then other operator issues, it kinda died out.
That's actually a huge reason why I like Serk's story so much. It is set 300 years after The Last: Naruto the Movie and assumes Toneri actually wiped out a huge majority of the human race. BAM, Sharingan and Byakugan are gone. Those that actually have it would have to have a lot better reason than just having survived the massacre of the Uchiha: they'd have to have survived the apocalypse and successfully have carried on their bloodline for 300 years, which is not possible (hence why I'm having a lot of fun showing how my character's bloodlines continued and became something new).
It gives users room for improvement and actually gives the operators, which I will be one of, a leg to stand on to say, "Hey, no Uchiha. No Senju. No Hyuga. No Sharingan, Rinnegan, Byakugan: because that stuff is dead and gone three centuries ago." It also provides a Naruto world with a fresh, clean slate. There's no need to argue about canon elements, because they're 300 years dead and gone, and the world is back to the Sengoku period in terms of clan relations and villages being scant and few.
Honestly, I think it has promise.
I do understand why the FC, previously, was so riddled with issues, though. Too many things hit it back to back, which would have crippled any project.
Dal, the biggest issue comes with the fact that you lot were trying to forge a story to fit the characters, when in reality, a successful FC must have a story in which characters must be modeled to fit. This kind of thing was not made clear. This was a universe where the Uchiha line was dwindled, that alone was reason enough to tell people to knock it off with the Uchiha stuff, because it goes against the story. You guys were trying to accommodate users and this led to too many issues that could not be resolved. Add to the fact, consider the first arc, that even though Naraku might be a dangerous, what was the real story? He was deadly, had poison, viruses; great, that's fun. What was the story though? How was his motives and ideology going to influence the characters in the FC? Characters can't fit to a plot that has no story; no theme, no underlying concept, no overall respective goal. This is key, but it is also only the first of two major issues that need to be addressed.
You guys lack charge. This is why the BFF's FC has been successful. I started it and modeled the initial story and setting, which later matured to involve Blank and Ten, and I made it clear from the start that I was in no mood to entertain bullshit. I've been at the forefront of the FC's progress from day one, which is why it has been successful. NF's FC had operators and admins going in different directions and acting of their own accord, without any real strong leader to take charge. Even Dream, who was arguably the only person among the people running the FC plot who had a strong enough sway to maintain the FC's progress, was only barely holding on. And with her gone, the FC died out because it lacked leadership.
This isn't about needing new rules, or new applications, or even a new system to grade characters; this is an internal issue that must be resolved among you individuals. Someone, or someones need to take charge and make things clear from the start how it will be run and how things will go about.
Hey I continued to do some thinking and thought being tora's grandson is to much due to the fact that I would have to do tora's wife tora's son and Tora son's wife as well and i think would be to much, so was wondering if I could Abura's brother or Son. Sorry if I'm asking for to much
