Minato Namikaze was an orphaned ninja who became the pupil of Jiraiya after graduating from the village academy, later becoming the Fourth Hokage of Konohagakure. A veteran of the Third Great Shinobi War, Minato was feared on the battlefield for his skill and lethality. His power was so great, that enemy village Iwagakure issued a flee-on-sight order in regards to him. He is considered to be the most talented and powerful shinobi ever to have lived in Konoha.
Born and raised in Konoha, Minato's early life was filled with grief. His mother died in childbirth, leaving his father to take care of him on his own. However, even that parentage did not last very long. Minato's father was killed in the middle of a vital mission, leaving Minato to care for himself while attending the ninja academy. In response to his father's death, Minato vowed to become stronger: to protect those he cared about. Minato graduated as the valedictorian of his class, and was assigned to Jiraiya as a genin.
Jiraiya saw Minato's potential and his determination to be great, and gave him special training. Around this time, Minato made a contract with the toads.
