The user of this technique focuses their Sharingan on Kurama's eye, causing the Sharingan to manifest in the beast's eye, followed by the pupils dilating. From then on Kurama can be summoned and controlled by the user. Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, noted that this technique could not be maintained for very long; even though Madara Uchiha was capable of maintaining the technique far longer than Tobi. It can be undone by a Contract Seal. Izuna Uchiha was known to have had the ability to use this technique, but he never did make use of it.
