This orb is the product of some Uchiha clan member's Susanoo. The orb is completely made out of the flames of Amaterasu. While it is almost always present in the Susanoo of an Uchiha capable of Blaze Release, such as Izuna and Sasuke's; it is also capable of manifesting in those without Blaze Release, like Ryun Uchiha's version.
In the Mangekyō Sharingan version, this orb appears as wild, untamed black flames condensed into a ball in the Susanoo's second hand. However, in the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan version, the orb is more spherical and the flames are less out of control.
When Ryun uses Susanoo while in Sage Mode, the orb appears to be white, as it is made purely out of natural energy rather than the black flames of Amaterasu.
Trivia
- Every 20 years, at the Ise Shrine in Japan, a ceremony known as the Shikinen Sengū (式年遷宮) is held in honor of the goddess Amaterasu. During the ceremony, the shrine is burned down and rebuilt. It is said the Yata no Kagami is stored here.
