Yazen (蛇禅, Yazen) is a Tokubetsu Jōnin who hailed from Otogakure as a pioneer of its specialty in snake and sound techniques. He eventually gained the status of a Sage within the Ryūchi Cave. During this time, he was regarded as Yazen the Snake Whisperer (蛇囁きの蛇禅, Hebi Sasayaki no Yazen). He was quickly put to use by the higher-ups of Otogakure's political chain, his actions as a reconnaissance agent eventually found out and, given the nature of the information acquired, he was sent to Hōzuki Castle. Recently, he has been released on a form of probation. He acts as a spy for the prison, reporting to Mukūrō about potential invasions or prisoners that must be apprehended. Due to his devious nature, however, he is often referred to as an Eavesdropping Rascal (盗み聞きの野郎, Nusumigiki no Yarō), a title which he prides himself with.
