Background
Founding
Long before the Rikudō Sennin was born, there was a family known as the Zen'nou clan, the most powerful clan ever formed. It is believed that the Zen'nou clan are direct descendants of various gods and goddesses because they had so many special abilities. When the entire clan was alive their numbers ranged in the hundreds, some rumors say even in the thousands. The original members were scattered around the world but one man named Jinmu sought to gather those who also had the same power as him, the Jūkeigan. He believed that this Kekkei Genkai was a gift from the gods themselves and should be used to help people and nature, as shown when during his travels he assissted anybody in any way he could. Fellow users of the Jūkeigan witnessed his skills in manipulating the elements and idolised him so they appointed him as their leader. Jinmu then established the codes that they should all abide by and formed the Zen'nou clan.
War with the Jūbi
Upon the founding of the clan, the members were suddenly thrown into an almost never-ending war with the shinobi world's primordial demon, the Jūbi. For many centuries, the Zen'nou Clan would battle day and night with the powerful beast, each side trying to defeat the other. The Zen'nou used their Jūkeigan to duel with it but only the experienced users were able to deal substantial damage to the Ten-Tails. Sometimes the Jūbi would battle against separated members, but this resulted in numerous tragedies of losing friends of family, an example of one of the many losses is Akuma's sister dying at the hands of the demon. At some point they managed to bind the beast until the day someone was able to stop it, ending the battle temporarily.
Slaying of the Gods
However, despite their peaceful natures, people in all of the other lands began to fear the power of the godly clan so they issued an order: kill every Zen'nou they found, don't leave a single one alive. And so, as many enemy ninja reeked havoc on Konoha to slaughter every member, women and children included, the entire clan ran for their lives. Most of the clan was wiped out, however what the murderers didn't know was that among the deceased were a few that weren't dead, infact these ones couldn't die as they had attained the Mugen no Jūkeigan, thus becoming immortal.
The family matriarch and patriarch were still alive but barely, with their last dying breaths they told the survivors that they must ensure that their son was kept safe and they knew that someday their prophecised descendant carrying the Jūkeigan in their blood will restore the clan. The father died first and just as the mother was about to die she performed her last jutsu, the Heaven's Division (Ten no Bunretsu).
The jutsu was designed so that no one outside of the clan could ever wield the true power of the Jūkeigan. But only the offspring of the survivors were affected by this jutsu so the ones who already had the Jūkeigan still carried it until the day the mortal ones died.
Out of fear of being hunted down again, the survivors fled to the safest regions of the shinobi world. Only two stayed in Konoha, completely hidden from the rest of the world, and that was Hogosha and Setsuna.
Charactersitics
In the Zen'nou clan, their most notable trait was that a most of the clan members had long hair that varied from down to their backs to almost reaching the floor as well as varying in colours.
Personality Traits
All Zen'nou clan members had a particular taste for nature, animals and art. This is shown as those who could use jutsus were notoriously creative with their techniques, especially in ninjutsu, and some of the moves were designed after animals. Most also had friendly natures, rarely got into arguments with each others yet when pushed to the limits they had fierce tempers. They were highly loyal to those they could trust.
Most were extremely stubborn when they didn't want to do certain tasks and always ignored or acted indifferently towards people who insulted them, especially the children if they ever got bullied. Members of the clan were mostly considered weird by a lot of people in the village but they were also considered extremely dangerous because when they're in an emotional state very bad or good things can happen.
They also enjoyed music as most, if not all, would often hum to themselves when they were alone and they loved to sing.
A lot of the clan members kept normal and unusual pets.
Clan Codes
When the Zen'nou Clan was founded by Jinmu Zen'nou, he made a list of codes that all clan members were to abide by.
- Treat everyone around you with respect.
- Keep fighting despite the odds being against you.
- Whatever the situation, always keep your loyalties where they've always been.
- Never lock away or hide your emotions.
- Protect everyone and everything that is dear to you.
- Help those who are in dire need, even your enemies.
Clan Parties
The Zen'nou Clan also like to throw huge festival-like parties within their home where friends, family and strong shinobi they have encountered are invited to attend so they can relax, socialise, have fun and sometimes have battles with each other. There are also a number of games and activities in which people can show off their strength, intelligence, teamwork skills and many others.

Abilities
Before the Rikudō Sennin founded the art of ninjutsu, the Zen'nou were already legendary for their skills in ninjutsu and many other things. They were notoriously creative with their techniques, especially in ninjutsu, and some of the moves were designed after animals. This dōjutsu enables the Zen'nou to create new release jutsus that modern shinobi had never heard of and were thought to be nothing but myths.
Trivia
- The clan's symbol is a representation of not only themselves but everyone and everything around them:
- The circle represents one's physical appearance, it's plain, nothing special.
- The dragon represents strength, bravery, willpower and potential hidden within oneself.
- The chains that bind the dragon represent there are things that bind that power inside everyone, keeping it in until the times when they need it most.
